This year, The Drum’s Chip Shop Awards – the show that rewards creativity that knows no bounds – has upped the ante with the launch of the Reader’s Choice award. It allows The Drum readers to vote for one standout winner across each category.
We’re eager to find out if readers will select the same winners as this year’s jury, spearheaded by Brave associate creative director Dipesh Mistry. So make sure you have your say before next week’s show by voting here.
The Drum’s Chip Shop Awards is off to a roaring start already, having received its highest number of submissions ever with a total of 850 entries, hailing from as far as Australia, the US, Peru, India, Canada, Indonesia, Europe and more.
The show will mark our first in-person event since the pandemic struck and will take place at The Drum’s newly-launched Shoreditch space, The Drum Labs, next week on Wednesday July 07 2021.
This year’s shortlist spans 32 categories, some of which included work that looked at the impacts of Covid. A few shortlisted campaigns also referenced the pandemic, by incoprorating social distancing practices into their messaging or promoting relevant products.
Of the awards, Mistry said: “It’s the one competition where people can really flex their creative muscles and unleash hell. I like seeing people create work that makes people nervous, have ideas that a client would never buy.”
The Drum also held an OOH exhibition which took place outside the Labs building as part of The Best Shop Window Postcard category for The Chip Shop Awards. Witty postcards transformed the shop window display to look like a local newsagent with handwritten ads. The entries are still displayed outside so passersby can read the postcards and admire their clever use of language and brand association.
